Grava was present at SEO Benelux meetup Brussel
On Thursday, October 17, 2019 the meetup of SEO Benelux took place in BE Central in Brussels with the central theme "Local SEO". At Grava we have been following the SEO Benelux page on Facebook intensively for some time. A great initiative with the aim of SEOs in the Benelux to connect and share best practices that can work for our region. We took the time to go to Brussels to make contact with other SEOs from Belgium and the Netherlands and to participate in the discussion on best practices for Local SEO.
Case Google My Business optimization at VDAB by Liesbet De Vylder
After the excellent reception and the first short conversations with some other agencies, the evening started with a presentation by Liesbet De Vylder who is responsible for the Local SEO part of VDAB. VDAB is an organization with more than 100 offices in Belgium. When starting up and updating Google My Business they also encountered some limitations and frustrations. Something they now happily shared in a presentation so that everyone could learn from these pitfalls. The use of location groups was discussed, but also the advantages of bulk uploads for organizations with a lot of retail points made the presentation. What we also take home is that determination when contacting Google Support can result in great end results in Google My Business.
Case international Local SEO best practices by Ken Derwael
Whereas the VDAB case focused mainly on national Local SEO for Belgium, Ken Derwael of Bpost went a step further with a presentation on international Local SEO. With experience in optimizing local results for Radisson hotels, among other things, we shifted up a gear. Not only Google My Business was briefly cited, but also Bing Places, Baidu and Yandex. Takeways of this presentation are that such extensive Local SEO processes are often managed through tools like Uberall or Local Clarity. These tools make it easier to manage all Local SEO places from one place. Uploads of shopping points, submission in directories, optimization of places, answering reviews, ... Also in this presentation, it was confirmed that in essence everything in Google My Business can be customized as long as your determination is strong enough and you get the right person on the line. Never give up is the consensus!
Intent optimized landing pages tailored by Verbolia
Verbolia picked up with a short presentation on the technology they develop, to create landing pages tailored to customers' needs. The technology is based on reverse proxy and thus integrates intent optimized landing pages under the customer's domain. The advantage of this product is that as an SEO consultant you are no longer dependent on developers on the client side, a sometimes quite bureaucratic process where it can take a long time before new, cool landing pages are placed online on the website. A problem that all of us as SEOs sometimes encounter.
